Mooring connected mattress pad gets you through the night to a more comfy morning

Most take for granted how easy it is to drift off but sometimes it’s harder than sleeping on a log. When considering the complicated, intricate dance of the many factors involved to do so — temperature, comfort, positioning, to name a few — it’s easy to see how so many people are affected by trouble sleeping.

The Shanghai team at Mirahome wants to help with its Mooring, a smart sleep system that uses predictive learning technology to optimize sleep cycles and improve sleep quality. Mooring takes the form of a 100% polyester, ultralight thermal mattress pad equipped with technology that enables it to monitor things like heart rate, breathing rate, and movement to generate sleep profiles over time.

What makes Mooring really stand out is the ability to separately adjust the temperature in the upper, mid, and lower parts of both sides of the pad to each user’s preference. And in the morning, a built-in vibrating alarm wakes sleepers up at their lightest point for a smoother start to the day. Directly connected to Mooring is a base pad that can be used to set alarms or refer to temperatures settings while its companion smartphone app lets users refer to their sleep profiles, sleep reports, and gives them full control over every aspect of its operation. A full-size version of Mooring is $189 with the price increasing for bigger sizes, all of which are slated to ship October 2016. Its Indiegogo campaign is looking for $100,000 by May 5th, 2016.

Mooring builds on top of products like Beddit that get in bed with its users to provide valuable sleep statistics but goes a step farther in providing temperature changing capabilities. While the Luna smart bed cover does the same, it doesn’t allow users the luxury of segmented zones like Mooring. It does, however, connect with other IoT products for a more cohesive experience.
